The story

Who is Daft Punk?

Daft Punk was the Paris duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. Their debut album Homework (1997) took Chicago house and acid, filtered it, and sold it to the world.

Discovery (2001) and later Random Access Memories (2013) made them one of the biggest acts in music. The duo announced their split in 2021.

The sound

Filtered disco, acid squelch and robot vocals. House music as pop, without losing the jack.
